Did John Boyd Dunlop (the pneumatic tyre man) come from here? No, sorry, he was from Dreghorn, a village near Irvine, eight miles to the south.

The parish church - Dunlop Kirk - is to the west of the village, at the end of the Main Street and beside the road over to Burnhouse.

Like so many churches in Scotland, Dunlop is linked with another parish, in this case Caldwell.
