Dunlop Village & Church
North Ayrshire

Dunlop Village and Church, North Ayrshire, aerial photograph
Dunlop in North Ayrshire, this from the east looking over Newmill Road.

In the far distance are Ailsa Craig and Arran in the Firth of Clyde.

And this from the south with Dunlop Kirk on the left.

Did John Boyd Dunlop (the pneumatic tyre man) come from here? No, sorry, he was from Dreghorn, a village near Irvine, eight miles to the south.

And the centre from the west.

The parish church - Dunlop Kirk - to the west of the village, at the end of the Main Street and beside the road over to Burnhouse.

Like so many churches in Scotland, Dunlop is linked with another parish, in this case Caldwell.

Finally a panorama from the north-east with the church in the right foreground.
