Looking from the north this is the main tourist are with the blacksmith's forge in the far corner.

The main buildings. There's currently work underway to build a children's playpark so the closest car park is being used for service vehicles.

There's parking for over thirty tourist coaches as this is a very popular spot for touring holidays right by the main road into Scotland. There are all the usual tourist attractions, cafés, gift shops, marriage guidance...

There are plans to develop the field to the right of this photo to display a sculpture to welcome visitors across the border - see this link:

The core of Gretna Green is the Blacksmith's Forge where runaway couples were married in times past. Scots law allowed marriage at a younger age than in England without parents' consent. Romantic, foolish and very popular.

The English border is about 800 yards from here and that's the A74(M) running past the gate.

This is a maze designed for romantic couples to get lost in.
