Also known as Skaur on older maps, Kippford is a small village now mainly known as a
day trip or holiday destination just a few miles south of Dalbeattie.
The local hills and coast are a popular destination for nature lovers, birdwatchers and walkers.
These views were taken from over the River Urr at high tide, looking eastwards.
There's a yacht club and a wide choice of pubs and eateries as well as a well-stocked grocery. A number of the houses and cottages are available as holiday lets.
In the area there's no shortage of caravan and mobile home sites.
The last image is of the village hall and car park run by the local Kippford Association. There's no charge for parking but visitors are quite reasonably invited to make a voluntary contribution.
Just upstream on the River Urr is the village of Palnackie and a few miles further north is an ancient historical site, the Motte of Urr, both photographed for this website.
