The remote church, ten miles south of Stranraer, that houses some of the earliest Christian relics in Scotland.

The Kirkmadrine Stones have carvings of Viking origin alongside Christian symbolism and date back to the mid 500s and possibly even earlier. (Columba didn't even arrive in Scotland until at least 563.)

The church is easy to find and is signposted from the main road nearby, the A716, to the west and just south of Sandhead. There's limited grass verge parking at the end of the access path.
