The Scottish Korean War Memorial
Torpichen, Linlithgow

The Scottish Korean War Memorial, Torpichen, Linlithgow, aerial photograph
In the southern part of Beescraig Country Park roughly midway between Bathgate, three miles to the south and Linlithgow, slightly closer to the north.

A quiet and remote area, both peaceful and appropriate.

There are brown direction signs to the monument from all nearby main roads.

The monument lists the names of those killed in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.

Soldiers, airmen, sailors and others from Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England, all listed by regiments and duties.

As you can see from the photos some trees have plaques indicating that they have been dedicated to individuals.

The monument has plenty of free parking and access is by way of a smooth and gently sloping path, easy for all to use.

Inside the monument are the names of those commemorated.

An information board on the path from the car park provides full details in both English and Korean.

Other parts of the site are dedicated to regiments, like this to the Black Watch.

The walking routes through the nearby woods are all clearly marked and each is also dedicated and named for individuals.
