This is a busy area. On the left is the artwork, “A Poem For St Andrews” and student accommodation and
a creche for the children of university students.
On the right a coffee stall (with tables) a sauna (with access to the beach and sea) and a leisure centre and pool. The beach is in the foreground.
The poem on the wall, “East Sands” written by Jacob Polley, reads:
“ to pry apart a sunbeam and find yellow like imperfect gilding, violet and purplish black lacquer of a lobster claw, bottle-green depths and dandelion interiors, the frilly white of shoreline and seashell, and all light's silverwork laid bare in a solution of common salt on the common sand ”
Winner of the T.S. Eliot Award for Poetry.
