Whithorn Priory in Dumfries & Galloway just to the west of the main street of Whithorn.

This location is run by Historic Scotland and the Whithorn Trust. The museum is well worth a visit and has some amazing carvings and sculptures from the early days of Christianity.

The Priory was founded in the early1100s and became the cathedral church of Galloway though today pretty much all signs of the original cathedral are lost to time.

In the grounds there's a replica of an Iron Age Roundhouse (seen in most of the photos) helping to explain and explore the long human history in this area. Rispain Camp nearby is another ancient site among many in this area.
