Well worth a trip, the scenery is stunning.

From directly overhead the odd shape of the castle, built to the shape of the island, is clear.

It was originally on the island in the loch (more on that later) and was moved to the north bank when the loch was dammed to become a reservoir in the 1930s.

It seems now that it would probably have survived the raised water levels having sensibly been built on the highest point of the island. The island's name? Castle Island. No? Really?
