Culross West Kirk is now in ruins but was the original parish church for this area
before Culross Abbey became available to worshippers.
Once the monks at the abbey had died off their church became available, was closer to the village and is bigger and so this site was abandoned from about 1633.
The West (Old) Kirk is about a half mile north and west of the village and is said to contain the hidden end of a tunnel from the abbey. It's more famous recently as a location in “Outlander”.
Despite being abandond for many years the kirk is marked as containing Commonwealth war graves as the cemetery has continued in use until relatively recently.
As you can see there are no real facilities to visit the kirk but it makes a nice walk along from the Abbey. The kirk is in the care of the local council, as a cemetery.
