Sir Alexander Fleming Mural
The Corner, Darvel

Sir Alexander Fleming Mural, The Corner, Darvel, aerial photograph
On the south side of the Main Street in Darvel, East Ayrshire is small square designated as a community space that they've called The Corner.

That's where this portrait of Sir Alexander Fleming is painted on the end wall of a building.

The Corner has rest areas and a covered section which is used for markets and local events.

Sir Alexander Fleming was a local man, born on a farm a few miles north of here, and he won the Nobel Prize for the discovery of penicillin, the world's first effective antibiotic.

That's Loudoun Hill in the mist on the horizon a few miles to the east.

The mural seems to be taken from a very famous photo of Fleming.
