Martnaham Loch is a few miles south of Ayr and not far from Coylton.
The photos were taken on a crisp October morning in 2026, looking north, with the water level quite low after a dry summer.
There was once a castle/fortified house on the peninsula in the centre of the loch and a railway line ran along the southern (nearer) edge.
