One of a series of artworks designed to brighten up the journey along the M8 between
Glasgow and Edinburgh.
This horn sits on the edge of the woods on the south side of the M8 just west of Junction 4A and on foot is located in the north-east corner of Polkemmet Country Park, down at the bottom of the golf course right next to the fourth green.
It originally broadcast sounds of music, local voices and famous quotes from Scots authors at random times but stopped doing so many years ago. Some say because it annoyed the neighbours but that sees unlikely.
Obviously you couldn't hear it when travelling on the motorway but you could walk down through the park and hear it from the top of the steps at the base.
