Aurora Expeditions' cruise ship Sylvia Earle on its visit to Troon in late May, 2026.
Troon is becoming an ever more popular destination for smaller cruise ships probably linked to the number of golf courses, the local history and of course the warm welcome.
The third photo has the Isle of Arran in the background. The fourth and fifth show the Wee Hurrie fish and chip shop in the brown building and Troon fish market beyond.
This cruise was to explore Scottish history and included a two-day trip to Edinburgh which gave the crew a break and an opportunity to re-provision the ship.
From Troon she next sailed to Iona off the west coast of Mull to visit the abbey and home of St Columba.
The Sylvia Earle is 342 feet long, carries 130 expeditioners (they probably mean passengers) and is registered in the Bahamas.
